Description
The Atomic Backland 117 is built for backcountry skiing, where deep snow and changing conditions are the norm. It’s designed to help you move through powder and explore off-piste terrain without adding unnecessary weight.
Featuring a 140.5/117/129.5 mm profile (tip/waist/tail), the Backland 117 provides flotation in softer snow and maintains edge grip when the surface firms up. The flat binding platform lets you choose and fit your preferred touring binding, and at 1,880 g per ski it balances downhill stability with lighter uphill carries.
The 19 m turn radius describes the arc the ski makes when carving: a larger radius supports smooth, stable long turns on open slopes, while still allowing you to adapt when the terrain tightens up.

Atomic says about theBackland 117 22/23
Backland 117 delivers ultimate freeride touring performance in a wide and lightweight package. At 117mm underfoot this is Atomic’s widest freeride touring ski, but still super light thanks to a full-length Carbon Backbone and Ultra Power Woodcore. The Powder Rocker and revolutionary HRZN Tech in the tip deliver more surface area for maximum flotation in deep pow. Capable of charging through crud and chop with total confidence, the Dura Cap Sidewall allows for smooth and stable handling on harder snow. They pair perfectly with the 100% mohair Atomic MultiFit Skins, for maximum uphill performance. Created for big mountain skiers dropping big lines in big terrain, Atomic Backland 117 offers next level performance for a next level backcountry skiing experience.
